Short, because there isn't much.

The app

Your records live on your device. Every plant, photograph, note, culture setting and award is stored in the app's own database on your iPhone or iPad. Nothing is sent to a server run by Orchistry. There is no account, no sign-in, and no analytics.

iCloud is yours to turn on. If you choose to sync, the app uses Apple's CloudKit to keep your collection in your own iCloud account, under Apple's privacy terms. It is off by default. Orchistry cannot read what is in your iCloud.

The app talks to the internet only when you ask it to. Three things reach outside the device, each on your action: an optional weather lookup for a US zip code you enter (sent to Open-Meteo, a free public weather service — only the coordinates of that zip code, nothing about you); downloading photographs from your own Airtable export when you import one; and Apple's iCloud sync if you enabled it. Desktop Connect serves your collection to a browser on your own local network and never leaves it. Plant-name checks against Kew's data run against a copy inside the app.

Leaving is easy. Export the whole collection as an Excel workbook, back up records and photographs together in one file, or delete everything from inside the app. Deleting the app deletes its data.

This website

The beta application form asks for your name, the email address your Apple ID uses, and what you grow. That is used to send you a TestFlight invitation and to decide which round to invite you in — nothing else. It is stored with Cloudflare, who host this site, and emailed to the one person who runs the beta. It is not added to a list, not used for a newsletter, and not shared with anyone. Write to the beta address from any invitation you receive if you'd like it deleted.

Nothing on this site loads from anyone but Cloudflare. The typefaces are served from here, there are no analytics scripts, no advertising, and no cookies set by us. Cloudflare keeps ordinary server logs to run the service, as any host does.
